BLENDED STORIES
My ceramic/pottery practice has been
influenced by
a number of clay workers both in Australia and overseas, people from the past as
well as cotemporary ceramicists. I am also very interested
in ancient and Australian indigenous art and pottery.
I have created a palette for my hand built
work by blending different clays and slips in forms that
are derived from ancient
and classical shapes altering them
to produce a more contemporary feel. My mark making has grown out of a deep interest
in ancient and prehistoric wall paintings and the work of post impressionist artists.
I have come to clay in my “more mature years,” so I have, at my finger tips,
a lifetime of experience living in a changing and developing Australia.
